3-Step Form Prep

familylawformprep.com

There's a 3-Step process for filing all forms required by the court:

Step 1 'The Petition'

To get started, we provide a short list of what we need to prepare your initial Petition forms  and forward it to you for your signed approval.  Once you approve your Petition, it's filed with the court and copies are returned by email.  As mentioned, the other party (referred to as the 'Respondent') signs the Acknowledgment form by email, and Step 1 is complete.

In family law, both parties are equal and it doesn't make any difference which party files first as the Petitioner.  The date of dissolution of marriage is 6 months from the date the Respondent receives a copy of the filed Petition and, as mentioned above, this service can be done by email.

Step 2 'Disclosures'

We provide a breakdown of exact areas of the Disclosure forms that actually need to be completed  and which areas to skip.  At this time, you will be asked to provide copies of recent paystubs for the last 2 months.  (Copies of recent paystubs are the only records required by the court that you will be asked to provide).  We ask to do your best to complete the areas requested. Upon receipt of your information,  final drafts are typed and emailed back for your signed approval and return by email as well.

Step 3 'Judgment'

The information provided from your Petition and Disclosures are incorporated into your proposed Judgment and forwarded for your approval or  any changes.  Once the final Judgment is signed by both parties before a Notary Public, its submitted to the court for filing.  Upon receipt of the filed Judgment back from the court, it's forwarded to you and the matter is complete.
